The West Alabama INTERCEPT Task Force is asking parents and guardians of K-12-age children to take a few minutes to complete this survey and consider participating in an upcoming parent focus group.

While the task force investigates human trafficking and child exploitation cases, officers have also seen a growing number of cases involving very young children being targeted online, sharing inappropriate images, or communicating with people they should not be communicating with.

Investigators want to better understand how parents get information, what concerns they have, and provide resources for keeping their kids safe online.

The survey is anonymous, and the feedback will help the task force improve education and outreach efforts for families across West Alabama.

Take the survey here: https://tinyurl.com/InterceptParents

More information about the focus groups is included below.

After more than 20 years with TPD, Communications Supervisor Jeri Bowers worked her last shift today.

Jeri started with us on Nov. 5, 2001, after previously working with Greenville Police Department. For more than two decades, she has helped answer the calls and send help where it was needed.

This job is not as easy as someone with Jeriโ€™s experience makes it seem. We will all miss seeing her, or hearing her familiar voice on the radio. Most of us have heard that voice since our first day on the job.

Weโ€™re thankful for all the years she has given to TPD and the City of Tuscaloosa, and wish her a well-deserved and happy retirement!

Congratulations, Jeri! ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŽ‰

Congratulations to Morgan Ebert on earning her LEAF certification through the International Association of Crime Analysts!

LEAF stands for Law Enforcement Analyst โ€“ Foundational. The certification recognizes analysts who have a solid working knowledge of crime analysis, data, patterns and the tools used to help law enforcement make decisions.

Our crime analysts work every day to help officers spot trends and make informed decisions that best serve the community.

Morgan studied hard for this one, and weโ€™re proud to see it pay off. Congrats, Morgan! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Five members of the Tuscaloosa Police Department Honor Guard traveled to Washington, D.C., for National Police Week.

Throughout the week, they participated in several events, including the Candlelight Vigil, the NCLEES Emerald Society March, the National Peace Officersโ€™ Memorial Service and Standing Watch for the Fallen.

Our Honor Guard members are grateful for the privilege of representing the State of Alabama, the City of Tuscaloosa and the Tuscaloosa Police Department each year during National Police Week. Their trip is made possible through the support of the Chief of Police, FOP Lodge 10 and Prince Glover Hayes Law Firm.
