Attention Tuscaloosa County Taxpayers:

2025 valuation notices for real property and business personal property are being mailed today, May 16, 2025. The deadline to protest to the Board of Equalization is June 16th, 2025.

Notices were sent out on most parcels due to being county-wide reappraisal and the new 7% cap beginning this year. Please read the information printed on the back of the valuation notice. Links for more detailed cap information are provided and can be viewed at https://www.revenue.alabama.gov/property-tax/7-cap-information-hb73-act-2024-344/
If you do not receive a notice, you are still eligible to protest the 2025 market value, but must do so by June 16, 2025.

The values provided on the notices are current estimates. If we find any error on a parcel, the value is subject to change. If in doubt, protest. Please remember that you are protesting value, not taxes.

For taxpayer convenience and to reduce the number of calls from tax reps, links for ALL real and business personal property parcels have been added to the county website. This is public information.

Due to the potential of inclement weather, County Courthouse Offices and the County Annex will delay opening until 10:00am tomorrow, January 10th. Tag offices located in other municipal facilities such as Northport City Hall and Vance Town Hall will be closed. State offices located in the County Courthouse will be closed tomorrow. The Tax Assessor’s Office wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and happy holidays.

In observance of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, County offices will be closed tomorrow, December 24 and Wednesday, December 25. We will resume normal business hours on Thursday, December 26. This includes state offices within the Courthouse.

The Commission wishes you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

October 1st kicks off our busiest season for assisting taxpayers with a couple extra homestead exemptions in addition to the every day assessments.
Homestead exemption affidavits are in the mail for those that have previously qualified. Be sure to complete and return as soon as possible and before December 31, 2024. Individuals needing to claim homestead have until December 31st as long as their deed was dated October 1 or prior. Owners must also be moved in and living in the home by the lien date of October 1st.

Even though alot of good things have been happening in the Tax Assessor’s office, it has been a little while since we have made a post.

Today is worth sharing. We had a customer bring in a key lime cake for Melinda M. For being so helpful. The kind taxpayer had recently lost her husband and was nervous about doing any paperwork. Melinda got her taken care of and because today would have been the taxpayer and her husband’s 65th anniversary, she wanted us to celebrate.
