is ran by Scott Anders, County Engineer and Assistant County Engineer is Tracy Criss. Our hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If you have an emergency before or after these times, contact the Sheriff's Dept. at 205-752-0616. The Public Works Dept is made up of the following departments:

Engineering Dept : located at 2810 35th Street, Tuscaloosa
The Bridge Dept : located at 2810 35th Street, Tusca

Camp Cedar Cove : located on Ed Stephens Road, Cottondale
Camp Coker : located on Highway 82 West, Coker
The County Maintenance Shop : located at 2810 35th Street, Tuscaloosa

The Mosquito Program usually begins in April and runs through September.

On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, South Sandy Rd will be closed just South of the Bridge for culvert replacement, between 8 A.M. and 8 P.M. Detour will be South Sandy Rd to Hwy 82 to Lake Payne Rd then West on Forest Rd 731/Hale Co. Rd. 50, then back North on Forest Rd 706/South Sandy Rd. See attached map.
