We are a Pre-K through fifth grade public school that is part of the Woodland Hills School District in Pennsylvania. The Woodland Hills School District was formed in July, 1981, and is located in the eastern portion of Allegheny County, approximately eight miles east of the City of Pittsburgh. The school district covers 13-1/2 square miles and includes the communities of Braddock, Braddock Hills,

Chalfant, Churchill, East Pittsburgh, Edgewood, Forest Hills, North Braddock, Rankin, Swissvale, Turtle Creek and Wilkins Township. The school district is part of the Allegheny Intermediate Unit. Geographically, Woodland Hills is bounded by the Monongahela River on the south and the City of Pittsburgh to the west. The Penn-Lincoln Parkway passes through the northern portion of the school district and supplies easy access to downtown Pittsburgh and the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Route 30 is a major east-west traffic artery which passes through the center of the school district. The entire area is served by the Port Authority of Allegheny County, which provides bus transportation to surrounding areas as well as within the school district community. Although composed of 12 municipalities, the school district is a comprehensive community that can provide for a variety of individual needs in housing, employment and social activities. There are over 21,000 residences located within the school district boundaries. The district is primarily a residential community and many residents look to the metropolitan Pittsburgh area for employment, entertainment and social activities. The close proximity of the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University also provide residents with access to numerous educational and cultural activities. The district serves approximately 3,500 students yearly, providing them with a wide array of education and extra-curricular opportunities to develop academically, athletically and socially. Woodland Hills is dedicated to excellence in the classroom, with the primary emphasis placed on quality instruction and student achievement. Additionally, the district is committed to developing community support and citizen involvement within the district.

Ms. Sachse's very first Pre-K class at Turtle Creek is growing up fast and now they're reading to head off to middle school. But before they officially become sixth graders, they returned to their former classroom for a visit with her! She even read them a story, just like when they were first in her classroom all those years ago.

The staff here at Turtle Creek Elementary is feeling the love! We wanted to take a moment to send a massive THANK YOU to our incredible parent organization, P.I.E. (Partners in Education). You truly went above and beyond to make us feel like superstars last week. From the thoughtful treats to the kind words, you made every single one of us feel so deeply cared for and appreciated. It’s the energy and support from this community that makes our school such a special place . We are also incredibly thankful for the amazing Scholastic donation made to Turtle Creek! These resources will go such a long way!

To every parent who contributed their time, donations, and energy to make this possible: we see you and we thank you! We are so lucky to have you in our corner.

We would also like to thank our amazing Principal, Dr.Livingston, and Assistant Principal, Mr. Cress, who support us each and every day and also surprised us with two gifts that will help us to rest and recharge throughout the year! We are so incredibly grateful to work for such kind and caring administrators!!!
