Today we are excited to celebrate National Dam Safety Day!

The dams under TID’s responsibility are not only the cornerstone of our irrigation system, but they provide hydropower, flood control, and recreation opportunities! TID is extremely proud of the dams in our system, our robust Owners Dam Safety Program, and the members of our team who keep our dams in top condition to ensure the safety of our community.

Busy week at TID!

On Wednesday, TID’s Michael Cooke joined several California water leaders at the San Joaquin Valley Water Resilience Summit to discuss the most pressing water challenges and opportunities in the San Joaquin Valley. Then, on Thursday, TID’s Manjot Gill sat down with Western Area Power Administration’s Tracey LeBeau for an insightful fireside chat focused on the initiatives and challenges impacting public power at the Northwest Public Power Association - NWPPA Annual Conference.

The District is proud to be an industry leader and lead important conversations on both water and power in California!

On this day in 1971, the New Don Pedro Project was officially dedicated. For more than half a century, the Don Pedro dam, reservoir, and powerplant has provided reliable water and electricity for hundreds of thousands of customers, created jobs and opportunity in the region, and protected those downstream from high flows on the Tuolumne River.

Now, the 55-year-old Don Pedro Project is going through a massive life extension project to ensure it can continue to serve our community for another 50 years.
