Hey everyone, we have the Caprock Heroes Color Book available! Looks like Childress, Silverton and Quitaque have theirs available, and the other departments that joined us in this project will have theirs posted soon! $15 each and we can ship for $5 extra if needed. We want to give a shout out and a HUGE THANK YOU to the sponsors that made this project work. The sponsor ads covered 100% of the printing costs, so none of the fire departments had to pay anything to get these. Every book sold is 100% profit for that fire department!

Lots going on this weekend!!! Come to Turkey and check out the car show, see who's winning the Cook Off, and support some local vendors! At the Fire Station, pick up a Bob Wills Cook-off T-Shirt and other merch, and grab a TVFD ball cap. We have our Caprock a Heroes Coloring Books finally printed and available!

Then scoot down to Roaring Springs for an incredible live music event featuring Trent Willmon. Tomorrow, let the Floydada Volunteer Fire Department feed you lunch!!

All fire department personnel are back in for the night. Some Forest Service firefighters are staying over, and others are going back first thing in the morning to check on things before they consider it 100% out, otherwise the fire is contained and mostly out.

Forest Service is on scene with trucks and equipment. Fire progression to the north was stopped and being held at CR PP. Still have trucks putting out fire to the south end of it. A Briscoe County motor grader got here early and started putting a fire guard around it. Many trucks mopping up hot spots. Huge thanks to Quitaque FD and Flomot FD, Hall and Briscoe County Sheriff's Departments, and I'm sorry if we missed anyone, I'm listing who I've seen or heard in the radio. We'll post later with better info.

PS. If you've been trying to call the chief, he's reachable by radio. His phone has been demolished by a truck 😬😂

Please be smart about your hiking and climbing. Even going in the early mornings and late evenings, you'll still need A LOT of water, even though it's heavy to carry. Rescuing hikers puts all our responders at risk!

‼ URGENT WATER NOTICE ‼ - The City must shut off water tonight, 8.20.26, at 10 pm. This will affect everyone on City water. Major repairs are needed on the water tower that require it to be drained. There is no exact timeline for repairs but we know water will be off through at least tomorrow morning.

The City will let you know when the water is back on and Boil Water Notice instructions will be given at that time.

Do not approach the water tower for any reason.

⚠️⚠️ Hey guys. Just a quick public service announcement.⚠️⚠️

If you're traveling to and from our area up to Lockney, Floydada, Plainview... please try to avoid FM 97 from Flomot up the cap and thru Cedar Hill. There are potholes the size of cars, but the bigger hazard are the dozens and dozens of semi-trucks coming and going from the AI site. They're all over the road. They aren't watching for cars, and it's not a matter of if they cause a wreck now. It's when.

To get from Turkey up the Cap, you can take highway 689 south of Quitaque to South Plains. Or 86 to Silverton. They're out of the way, but safer.

Also, the number of trucks in Turkey have increased dramatically as well. They're not as bad coming and going from the north, but still use caution. In town, warn your kids and loved ones on ATVs to use caution getting on 70 and coming and going from Allsups.
