We've been busy this year rehabilitating 15 miles of Lower Mississippi River secondary channels at four sites in Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee. We've rehabilitated 115 miles of secondary channels since 2006 to improve habitat for fish, birds and other wildlife, to improve recreational and commercial fishing opportunities, and to improve water quality. Thanks to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation for its support of these important projects. And thanks to our conservation partners -- the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the U..S. Fish and Wildlife Service, The Nature Conservancy and the Mississippi River Trust -- we are Restoring America's Greatest River.

Thanks to the great work of Kathy Jacobs Design and Marketing, the LMRCC has a wonderful new website to tell its story of conservation along America’s Greatest River.

Storm surge and strong winds from Hurricane Ida stopped the flow of the Mississippi River near New Orleans on Sunday and actually caused it to reverse -- something the US Geological Survey says is "extremely uncommon."

The LMRCC is proud to be a part of this important work on America’s greatest river.
