The cliff notes to the 2016 election cycle and beyond. I decided I would do a high level study of what American has been witnessing, and here are my thoughts.
It is the end of the current iteration of politicians. What we are witnessing in the Presidential election has been going on for some time now in local and state races. There are four camps.
1. Republican Party (DOA). When Jeb Bush got out of the race, the establishment elites lost their last real chance at holding the office. Yes, they rallied behind Rubio but he was simply too boyishly weak to play in an arena filled with men (and stronger women). Then the elites begrudgingly supported Cruz who has never been establishment, but was still an elite. Here’s the newsflash: elites don’t represent the People and the People are tired of it. They didn’t listen to the warning … and took the bullet. DOA
2. Anti-Establishment/Elite, Right of Center and beyond (Newborn R). There have been pockets of this group, such as Tea Party, Constitutionalists, etc., but never before has there been a galvanizing purpose for overtaking the Republican Party until now. Enter Trump and a dozen other candidates from this group. The disgust of the Elites/Establishment politicians has become the focal point and the swell was great enough to bury the Republican Party as we have known it.
3. Democratic Party (on life support). The establishment/elite of the Democratic Party advanced quicker to consolidate power in fewer numbers. Narrowed down to two, we have the ultimate E/E in Hillary Clinton. She has far more power and reach than anyone in the Republican E/E, and sits atop a group that has used the machinery keep all of the party fringes drinking the Kool-Aid and supporting the Elites. But no more. The same problem exists that the Republicans had … the fuse is lit … the explosion on the way. If Hillary wins 2016, it will be the last President from the Democratic Party as we know it.
4. Anti-Establishment/Elite, Left of Center and beyond (Newborn D). This group is the mirror image of Newborn R. It is incredible to believe that a self avowed Socialist, Bernie Sanders, could give Hillary such a run for her money but for two things: a) the absence of any other viable traditional Democratic candidate (all snuffed out by the machine), and b) the hatred for the E/E’s and what is going on in DC. This group has the deck stacked against them, as the E/E’s passed the Superdelegate rule in 1982 to prevent anyone but E/E’s to win. This group is going to be extremely upset and will shake up the entire party once their candidate is given his walking papers in July. Here is where The Newborn D’s are far behind the Newborn R’s. The R’s have many viable candidates for the future. The D’s do not. They will be behind for several cycles.
All and all? Americans from all walks of life do not like what their parties have become over the last 30 years, and are going to change it. Many Republicans quit drinking the Kool-Aid first, but Democrats are starting to do the same. I heard a Republican E/E talking about how he was going to support Trump now, but he’s been too entrenched in the old party and he will not be accepted in the new. It’s going to be an interesting cycle with many ramifications. It’s a critical time, so make your vote heard as an American, and not as a blind party follower. If you are a Republican E/E, you do not have anyone to vote for. If you are a Democrat E/E, go ahead and vote for Hillary - it will be your last opportunity.
When I ran for State Senate in 2011, I was one cycle too early. Probably because every day I am face to face with unelected bureaucrats who do as they please without consequence, and the deaf E/E's who let them run amuck. So I ran for change, paid my way and wouldn't be bought ... and lost. Maybe I was able to help spark some of changes that are going on now. If I provoked some thought and made a difference, I am happy with that and have no regrets.
