🚩 RED FLAG WARNING in effect TODAY across much of Oklahoma! Dry air + gusty winds + low humidity = extreme wildfire risk. A single spark can start a fast-moving fire.
What YOU can do RIGHT NOW:

🔥 NO outdoor burning — respect burn bans & skip campfires/debris burns.
🔥 Don't mow, use chainsaws, or park hot vehicles on dry grass.
🔥 Extinguish ci******es completely & dispose properly.
🔥 Clear dry leaves/debris from roofs, gutters, & around your home.
🔥 Have a "go" plan: pack essentials, know escape routes, & monitor alerts.

Stay safe, stay vigilant—report suspicious smoke immediately! Call 911 if you see fire. 💪

Hughes County Emergency Management has implemented a Burn ban in effect for Hughes County until March 9th, 2026.

You can really help out the fire departments in Oklahoma by taking care to not cause a new fire. Just be very careful and avoid anything that could cause sparks!

Today will be a Very High Fire Danger day between the hours of 1pm to about 6pm. Relative Humidity should get down to around 17% with wind gusts into the 20s mph.

Please try to avoid any burning or outside welding activities. If you must burn outdoors call in a Control Burn to Central Dispatch, have water and hand tools, such as racks, shovel and leaf blowers, readily available while monitoring the fire.

Merry Christmas from your neighbors on our volunteer fire department! We were happy to ride in Stonewall’s Christmas parade and celebrate with our friends and neighbors. This year the Chief had help from his Great Grandson who got to wear the big red Santa outfit. We wish all of you a very blessed Christmas!

Merry Christmas from your Lula Volunteer Fire Fighters!

We wanted to recognize one of our neighbors for their festive Christmas spirit! Our neighbor Kristine goes all out with her Christmas lights. She started her labor of love 15 years ago and now has over 100,000 lights in her yard! Kristine said she loves to see the smiles on peoples’ faces when they see her Christmas lights. It is her way of giving back to our community. She said that restoring the displays is therapeutic for her and a special way to celebrate Christmas.
We are not sure if her Christmas lights can be seen from outer space, however you can experience them with a short drive.

Directions: Take Highway 48 and turn East on County Road 1580 1/2 a mile on the left.
