On Friday we were fortunate enough to host our Tumwater Police Department and our Tumwater Fire Department at the inaugural TPD vs TFD Tug-o-War. This year Tumwater Fire Department came out on top. More importantly, our Firewolves got to see some of our local hero’s and biggest supporters engage in friendly contest, the noise was loud and the smiles even bigger. After a tough week, this assembly and the participation of both departments was amazing. We couldn’t be more grateful to all who took time away from work to be there.

The idea for this originated with TMS School Counselor Ms. Stone, who carried this core memory from childhood and wanted to give the same to her students. A big shout out to former TOGETHER! Case Manager, Mrs. Courtney Prothero for helping to make this happen and to our amazing SRO Detective Stauffer for putting together the final pieces.

Lastly, a huge shout out to our Leadership class and teacher for putting on a fantastic assembly, and to the TMS Band and Dance team for 2 great performances.

Congratulations to our Firewolf Pack!

This recognition couldn’t have happened if our amazing food services team didn’t ensure that our students are fed and looked after, if our custodial team didn’t keep our building clean and kept up with repairs, leaks, and even getting shoes off the roof sometimes.

We know that this recognition is also because of our para educators, student support staff, the office professionals who answer every call and question, our OP’s and SLP’s who take such great care to provide specific academic support with students on IEP plans. Additionally, our health room team supports our building by helping to keep everyone healthy and works with our families to ensure all student health plans/needs are met. Similarly, our school psychologist, school counselors and our administrators show up each day to provide a myriad of supports on an indirect and direct basis.

A big shout out as well to our TMS PTO who create and fund so many fun events for our students and care for the staff of our building(Thank you!). This recognition also would not be coming our way if weren’t for our community partners, TOGETHER! and TYP, who do so much for our community.

But the truth is, we know that this recognition is a reflection of the dedication of our students and families, who show up each day to find growth in the educational journey, through developing social and emotional skills and finding success in extracurricular activities. We are so proud of our Firewolf Pack and are grateful to each employee, guardian/parent, student and community member that makes TMS a great place to attend to school.
