Weāre so encouraged to see this change coming this summer. š
Every child deserves to feel valued and cared forāespecially during times of transition. At our Resource Center, we see firsthand how something as simple as a bag can bring a sense of dignity and belonging.
Weāre grateful to work alongside caregivers and caseworkers to make sure children have what they need when moving between placements, reunifying with family, or entering care for the first time.
If youād like to help, we always welcome gently used luggage and bags to support these moments of transition.
We look forward to partnering with DHS to help ensure every child knows they matter.
A new state law will require duffel bags be provided for children entering foster care, so they no longer have to carry their belongings in trash bags.
Foster parents say itās about more than convenienceāitās about dignity, stability and helping kids feel like they belong.
The bags will also include hygiene items and will be provided starting July 1.
