May is Mental Health Month, and at Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa, we believe older adults belong in the conversation.
For some older adults, isolation can mean days without a familiar face, a friendly conversation, or someone checking in to make sure they’re okay. Over time, that lack of connection can affect mental and physical health, increasing the risk of depression, anxiety, heart disease, and stroke. The U.S. Surgeon General has compared its impact to smoking up to 15 ci******es a day.
That’s why connection is woven into the way we serve. For older folks, feeling seen, supported, and remembered can make a meaningful difference in their mental well-being. A simple check-in can make a real difference, not just during Mental Health Month, but all year long. Volunteer with us and make a real difference in someone's life: www.mowtulsa.org
