Mosquitoes go through four life stages: eggs, larvae, pupae and adults. The first three stages develop in standing water, which is why removing water from containers around your home is one of the most effective ways to prevent mosquitoes from breeding. Take a few minutes each week to empty, drain or cover items that collect water, such as buckets, flowerpots, birdbaths and tires.

By knowing the mosquito lifecycle, we can all help reduce mosquito populations and protect our community from mosquito-borne illnesses.

THD is hosting a free educational series focusing on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Protective and Compensatory Experiences (PACEs).

The What We Grow Through series is divided into two sessions and it is designed to bring awareness about how life experiences can impact our health and behavior. The series will also touch on what we can do to apply that understanding to support growth. Both sessions take place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Tulsa Health Department North Regional Health and Wellness Center, 5635 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Participation in both sessions is encouraged:
