🌙 Afghan Community in Tulsa just had a beautiful Iftar potluck in the Tulsa Islamic Society! Members brought such amazing dishes, and we were thrilled to have everyone join—whether from the Islamic Society or visiting from afar. One special moment: I met a truck driver from another state who joined us and left with a smile on his face, grateful for the warmth and fellowship. Thank you to everyone who came—this community shines brighter together! ✨

🌟 This week, the Afghan community in Tulsa proudly participated in Welcoming Week, hosted by the City of Tulsa - a celebration of unity, diversity, and belonging.

Our culture table was a joyful reflection of Afghan heritage, filled with traditional clothing, handmade crafts, flavorful treats, and stories that connect generations. It was a beautiful opportunity to share our traditions with neighbors and build bridges across cultures.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, asked questions, and celebrated with us. Your kindness and curiosity made us feel truly welcome. Together, we’re creating a Tulsa that embraces every voice and every background. 🤝

🇺🇸 Help the Family of Zarmin Shinwari 🇦🇫
Afghan U.S. Special Forces Veteran Killed in Tragic Crash

With deep sadness, we share the heartbreaking loss of Zarmin Shinwari, a former Afghan soldier who bravely served alongside the U.S. Special Forces 02 unit for over 12 years in Jalalabad.

On May 31, 2025, around 2 AM, Zarmin tragically lost his life in a fatal hit-and-run crash while driving for Uber on I-44 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the sole provider for his beloved wife and their three young children, ages 11, 9, and 6.

After risking his life to support U.S. missions in Afghanistan, Zarmin resettled in 2021 in the United States to give his family a better, safer future. Today, his wife and children face not only overwhelming grief but also deep financial hardship.

We are raising funds to cover Zarmin’s burial costs and to help support his grieving family during this devastating time. His children have lost their father, their protector, and their greatest hero.

👉 Please consider honoring his service and sacrifice by making a donation or sharing this message. Let’s stand by the family of a man who stood by us.
