A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 9PM this evening for west-central and far northwest Arkansas. Hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter and wind gusts to 70 mph will be possible with strongest storms.

Another hot and humid day is in store across the area with heat index values above 100 degrees for most of the area this afternoon. Scattered storm chances will also arrive again later this afternoon and evening with a marginal severe threat.

Some radar echoes are staring to pop up over north-central OK to the east of a surface trough. An isolated severe storm could evolve from this and move into NE OK over the next hour or two. Damaging winds and large hail are the main threats.

Temps will continue to warm today with highs in the low to mid 90s across the area, while humidity causes heat indices to exceed 100 degrees for many this afternoon. A storm or two will also be possible, but overall coverage is expected to be very low.

Towering cu evident on satellite imagery over NW AR suggests an isolated severe storm could develop here over the next couple hours. Large hail and damaging winds would be the main threats.
