Remember, cat body temperature is higher than ours, so use external heating methods as soon as you can(heating pad on low, heated water bottles, etc). Your body heat will help, but need a little extra to get them to their normal range.

Tulsa Animal Service Weekly Report Card
March 2-8, 2026

Every number tells a story about the animals coming through our doors and the community working to help them.

Last week at a glance:
- 143 animals arrived at the shelter
- 97 stray animals found in the community
- 33 owner surrenders
- 13 other intakes

120 animals left the shelter through positive outcomes:
- 82 adoptions (67 dogs, 15 cats)
- 17 pets were reunited with their owners
- 3 transferred to rescue partners

Because of those efforts, our live release rate this past week was 86%, and our year-to-date rate is currently 85%.

Right now, the biggest challenge we're facing is space.
Our dog population is currently 140% of capacity, with 246 dogs in a space built for 176. That means every adoption, foster, placement. or rescue transfer makes an immediate difference.

Foster families are helping ease the pressure, with 64 animals currently in foster homes (51 dogs and 13 cats). These temporary homes give pets a break from the shelter and help them prepare for adoption.

Tulsa Animal Services is an open-admission municipal shelter, which means we accept every animal that comes to us. The outcomes we see each week are only possible because of the support of our staff, volunteers, foster families, rescue partners, and this community.

If you've been thinking about adopting, fostering, or helping a lost pet find their way home, now is the time.
