Today was a great reminder that transformation happens in community.
We were honored to welcome volunteers from Boston Avenue United Methodist Church who worked side-by-side with 1st Step participants to organize and clean the 1st Step storage area. What might seem like a simple service project became something much bigger, fellowship, teamwork, shared purpose, and the dignity that comes from building something together.
At 1st Step, we believe habilitation happens not only in classes and counseling, but also in meaningful human connection and shared responsibility. Days like today help create the kind of pro-social environment where growth can truly take root.
We are deeply grateful to the volunteers from Boston Avenue for giving their time, energy, and encouragement to the young men in our program. Your willingness to serve alongside our participants speaks volumes.
