I hope everyone had a happy and safe summer! Our September meeting was mostly about testing for our water and sewer, as the DEC has been ramping up their requirements. Our crew are handling it well.

We also had a long discussion with the folks at Barton & Loguidice, who are handling the engineering of the 11A water district. We are very close to finalizing the supply of water to our Town of Tully neighbors along 11A and eventually up to LaFayette. This has been years in discussion, and has resolved to an agreement that feels fair for all involved. If you want any details, or want to discuss this, please reach out to me.

Along those lines, I'm going to begin having office hours at the Municipal Building, starting with Friday mornings at 10-12. If I need more or less, I'll adjust and post it here.

From the Desk of the Mayor

Hello folks! Unfortunately I did not find an opportunity to write up last month's discussion of the sewer and water bills, but I am going to be having office hours soon, probably once a week, and I should be able to get that done then.

This month's agenda is not particularly full, but that doesn't mean you can't stop by and discuss any topic relevant to the Village that you feel needs to be discussed! Hope to see you there at 6:30!

From the desk of the Mayor

We didn't have as many folks as we were expecting, but thank you to the villagers that did come by! It was a very good discussion, with very good questions that led to more knowledge all around. I'm going to try to write a summary of the Q&A to post on here, as I believe transparency is key and the questions asked really clarified issues. If you continue to have questions or concerns about the sewer and water bills, or anything else, please feel free to talk to a board member, message me here on Facebook, or email me at [email protected]. We are still offering tours of the Wastewater Treatment Plant as well - please contact myself or the Department of Public Works if you'd like to schedule one!

On the topic of contacting us, a suggestion was made to have office hours as mayor. I thought this sounded like an excellent idea. If anyone has any thoughts on the best time to have them, I'd be glad to hear them.

One item that came up, we are in need of a crossing guard at the JSHS entrance, next to Melinda Lane! If you need some extra money, it's a half hour in the morning and again in the afternoon. Please contact myself or our clerk Maureen at [email protected] with any interest.

We also had a visit from the Tully Rotary, who spoke about their recent microforest planting and the need for more trees around the village. They will be investigating a tree survey of the village to see if it's feasible, and also suggested looking into Tree City, USA status. We're already a good portion of the way there as far as the requirements go, so our environmental liaison will be looking into that as well.

All in all, it was a night of learning for everyone, and a pretty productive meeting as well. I hope to hear from folks, and to see you at future meetings!

Due to the expected turnout tonight, the Village Board meeting will be in the court room of the municipal building, still at 6:30pm. It's right around the corner from our usual meeting room.

By now everyone has received our letter about the increase in sewer and water rates. We understand that this is a distinct concern, and do not take a change like this lightly. After all, we live here too, and this is impacting us and our neighbors.

Unfortunately, the infrastructure is aging, and is in need of extensive maintenance and repairs. The wastewater treatment plant, in particular, is in rough shape. If you haven't, I strongly recommend arranging a tour of the plant; you'll see the extent of the work that needs to be done, and get a better idea of how it works. You can contact our head of the Department of Public Works, Mike, at 315-399-0104 for a tour during the day. If you can't make a tour during a work day, I (Dan) will be available in the evening and on weekends to give tours as well. You can contact me for that, or any other concerns you have, either by messaging me here or emailing me at [email protected].

If you are feeling like you have more to say, are unsure about the reasons for this or any changes in the Village, or are interested in the workings of the Village, please come to our Board meetings. They are open to the public, the 1st Wednesday of every month at 6:30pm. Our next one is 6/3, this coming Wednesday. I hope to see you there.

Board meeting tonight, 6:30!

Not a lot immediately on the agenda, but we will be discussing how best to disseminate information about the upcoming sewer and water bills. Everyone deserves to be able to plan and budget, so this is definitely important info.

If there is something you'd like us to discuss, please either send it my way, or come to the municipal building and tell us in person!
