Cancer continues to impact the fire service at an alarming rate. Early detection matters. This screening is designed to identify precancerous changes, including Barrett’s Esophagus, before they have the opportunity to progress.

Research cited by the Firefighter Cancer Support Network reports that firefighters face an increased risk associated with esophageal cancer, including a 39% increased risk of dying from esophageal cancer.
EsoGuard is designed to detect molecular changes associated with Barrett’s Esophagus (BE) and esophageal adenocarcinoma. The goal is simple: identify precancerous changes early so appropriate follow-up and treatment can occur before they develop into cancer.
There is no out-of-pocket cost to the firefighter or department. Insurance will be billed, but participants will not be responsible for any portion not covered, including if insurance denies coverage.
Medicare patients: Lucid Diagnostics is currently holding Medicare claims while awaiting an anticipated Medicare coverage policy. Participants will have no out-of-pocket cost the claim will either be covered or will not be submitted.
If you participate in an HRA through your insurance (not an HSA or FSA), please notify a Lucid representative before screening, as an additional step may be necessary.
Please bring your driver’s license and medical insurance card. Participants must also be NPO for two hours before testing, no food or liquids for two hours prior to your appointment.
Eligibility is determined through the Risk Factor Questionnaire, with participants needing a combination of 3 of the 8 identified risk factors to qualify.
Appointments are limited, and we would like to fill every available screening slot.

This is not an annual screening. Even getting screened once can provide important information, and screening may be repeated in the future if an individual’s risk-factor profile changes.
