About Kiwanis--Two natives of Detroit, Michigan had an idea in August, 1914, to develop an organization that provides not only fellowship, but eventually community service as well. A motto, "We Build" was approved that stayed until 2005. During the 90th anniversary of Kiwanis, a new motto was adopted, "Serving the Children of the World". Today, Kiwanis is a worldwide service organization of men and women who share the challenge of community and world improvement. There are over 200,000 members of Kiwanis, in over 7,000 clubs, in over 80 nations.
