Tukwila Food Pantry

Tukwila Food Pantry We serve the communities of Tukwila, Seatac, Burien and Boulevard Park. In operations for 20 years, we're here to feed our neighbors in need!

The City of Tukwila, Washington is just south of Seattle in King County. The city is home to an extensive retail and business area including Westfield Shoppingtown Southcenter Mall. Boeing Field is located at the Northend of Tukwila. Because of the many businesses located in the city, 45,000 people come to work in Tukwila daily, but only 19,000 people actually live within the city limits. South Ki

ng county has a large percentage of families with children living in poverty. At Cascade View Elementary School, just two blocks from the Tukwila Pantry, over 80% of the students qualify for free and reduced lunch programs. At the Tukwila Pantry we secure and distribute nutritious food to clients. Volunteers from the Tukwila Pantry pick up food daily from Haggan's, Safeway, Cash & Carry, Del Monte, Franz Bakery, LSG Sky Chef, Starbucks, and Target. Weekly the Pantry truck picks up food from Northwest Harvest and Food Lifeline. Gathering this food allows the Tukwila pantry to feed our clients for about 10¢ a meal. Even with these generous donations, the Pantry has certain operating costs for the transportation of food, maintenance of equipment, utilities, and the salary of a Director and a Driver. The Tukwila Pantry is an ‘emergency’ food bank. Clients come to the Tukwila Pantry when they can’t make ends meet. Sometimes they have applied for food stamps but haven’t received them yet, or sometimes an unexpected expense such as a medical bill or higher than normal utilities have interrupted their budget. Sadly, with today's economy and job loss our neighbors rely on the food bank more than ever. The Tukwila Pantry serves other communities as well. There were 16,494 household visits from Seatac, Burien, Tukwila and the surrounding areas in 2015. This is up from the 14,700 household visits in 2013. The clients of the Tukwila Pantry are your neighbors. You may live in a different suburb, or community, but you visit Tukwila and Seatac when you fly to Seattle, or visit Southcenter Mall and the surrounding businesses. You have an opportunity to provide food to children in these cities who are hungry by making a financial contribution to the Tukwila Pantry. At 10¢ a meal your money will go far. Please help by sending a contribution to the Tukwila Pantry today. Your donation of your volunteer time or your financial assistance is greatly appreciated. Please don’t delay — “In the land of plenty, plenty are hungry.” You can make a difference!

This past spring we started our first 8 flower and vegetable beds in a vacant area adjacent to the food bank on property at Riverton Park United Methodist Church.
We hope to be able to expand that space in the months to come and encourage locals to join us.
These are a few of the crops so far from Spring plantings.

A massive thank you to the University of Washington Black Student-Athlete Alliance as well as Zeta House who spent this past Martin Luther King Jr. Day working tirelessly for our community ❤️

Mariama with UW BSAA and Tabetha with Zeta came together and filled the Tukwila Pantry van with toiletries, hygiene necessities, and baby products. The work that all local food banks do is made possible by your generosity and kindness.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!!
