PUBLIC RELEASE UPDATE: !!!CAPTURED!!! The Tucumcari Police Department would like to inform the community that JULIAN MARTINEZ was located and taken into custody in Albuquerque NM today by agents of the New Mexico State Police. TPD would like to publicly thank NMSP as well as the Quay County Sheriff’s Office for their coordinated assistance in apprehending this fugitive. Martinez currently awaits extradition back to Quay County.

Over the course of the last 48 hours, TPD received information from members of the community and we wish to express our gratitude to you as well for your cooperation and assistance.

PUBLIC RELEASE: In the early morning hours of Sunday, May 18, 2025, Officers of the Tucumcari PD responded to the 900 block of south Monroe to investigate a domestic violence incident and double stabbing. Both stabbing victims are in stable condition. The alleged suspect is identified as Julian Martinez (pictured below). Felony arrest warrants have been issued for Martinez and he remains at large. TPD is providing his photo along with this post and asking for the public’s assistance in apprehending him. If you have any information as to his whereabouts, we ask that you contact law enforcement right away. Posting of this will be available on Crimestoppers as well as soon as possible.

More information will be provided as the investigation continues and as is appropriate for public notice.

Alleged suspect Martinez is considered dangerous and you should not approach or attempt to detain him.

The Tucumcari Police Department is currently investigating a felony in the 1900 block of South Fourth Street in Tucumcari. We would like to reassure the public that the suspect is in custody and we ask the public to please limit traffic in the area while Investigators continue to process the scene. This investigation involves allegations of a stabbing. The victim is in stable condition and further details will be provided when available. Again, the suspect has been taken into custody.
