Juneteenth is a moment of reflection—and a call to action.

As we honor this day, we recognize that the fight for housing equity is far from over. At Habitat for Humanity Tucson, we witness firsthand how a safe, affordable home creates stability, opens doors of opportunity, and builds generational wealth for local families.

Yet we also know that systemic barriers have long limited—and continue to limit—these opportunities for Black households and other marginalized communities.

We remain unwavering in our commitment to breaking down those barriers. Because every family in our community deserves the chance to build a brighter future.

This is a huge milestone!

This week, we’re hosting the first-ever Camp NAWIC at the CHUCK Center – and it’s already making an impact.

So, what is it? Camp NAWIC is a free, day camp that introduces high school girls to careers in construction. It’s run by the National Association of Women in Construction and designed to show young women that a future in the trades isn’t just possible – it’s exciting, rewarding, and within reach.

Why does this matter? Because women are still vastly underrepresented in construction. This camp opens doors, builds confidence, and helps close the skills gap by inspiring the next generation of female leaders in the industry.

And the best part? The girls are getting real, hands-on experience right here at the CHUCK Center – Habitat Tucson’s state-of-the-art training hub. They’re learning:

🔨 Carpentry & framing
⚡ Electrical
🔧 Plumbing
🛠️ Drywall, Tool Knowledge, safety on site, and more

They are building dog houses to donate to Pima Animal Care Center, visiting job sites, and learning from successful women already leading in the field. This isn’t just a camp – it’s a launchpad.
