The AZ Daily Star story about the founded by Valerie's parents after her death from Ewings Sarcoma in 1976 - describes well the financial challenges associated with a child's cancer diagnosis. When I can figure out how to copy this news story....I will post it.

Tucson Parks and Recreation opened 18 city pools for the summer season, running May 31 through Aug. 1, 2026. Pools will be closed on Friday, June 19, and Saturday, July 4, for the holidays. Admission is free at all pools and splash pads.

FREE SWIMMING CLASSES

Space are still available for Starbabies (6 months to 3 years old) and Starfish (3 years old to 17 years old) - all lessons are available for FREE thanks to a grant from Pima County Health Department.
