We kept it creative and cool last week around Beacon Group!
First, our WOLVES and Day Program hosted a craft fair featuring a variety of handmade creations.
Later, we enjoyed some delicious shaved ice from Kona Ice, hosted by Beacon's Staff Appreciation Committee as a thank you to our team for all their hard work!

We are so excited to announce Beacon Group's First Annual Co****le Tournament & Block Party coming up on Saturday, September 26th!

We hope you'll join us for a day of friendly competition, community, and raising money for services for the people with disabilities who we serve!

Last night's storm didn't 'rain' on the fun last night at the Arizona Technology Council's after5 Tech Mixer hosted at Beacon Group!

Yesterday, we had a great time giving a tour to a group of special education teachers from Flowing Wells High School! It was wonderful to show them around Beacon Group, all our services and the projects we're working on, but the best part of the visit was that the invitation was initiated by one of our members, Johnny, who was taught by this team when he was in high school!

These teachers made a huge impact on Johnny while he was in school, and he wanted to show them where he's working and how far he's come. Johnny is a hard worker at our warehouse where he assembles boxes and products for Beacon's business customers.

Reaching out to his former teachers showed real self-advocacy in action. He demonstrated confidence, independence, and pride in his accomplishments.

Thank you to these Flowing Wells teachers for coming out to Beacon and for the impact you made on Johnny and so many other members at Beacon and beyond!

We visited our friends at Bitty & Beau's Coffee for some morning coffee last week and it was the perfect morning pick-me-up!

Bitty & Beau's is a coffee shop chain dedicated to creating opportunities for people people with disabilities. They employ over 450 people with disabilities at their shops across the country and they recently opened one of their Coffee Cruisers in Tucson! You'll find them at Oracle & Ina (near Handel's) or popping up at events around town.

We love to support fellow organizations that are working hard to make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities!

With sadness, we share that one of our long time Beacon members, Chris Welch, passed away recently.
Chris was a fixture around Beacon Group. He loved working and brought a dedication and positive energy to the production floor each day.
Chris was active in Special Olympics, participating in tournaments across the Southwest. If not out bowling he was a huge sports fan following his beloved U of A Wildcats, NASCAR and many others. He also had a deep love for music and could often be found enjoying his favorite songs, "rocking out" on his headphones during his breaks.
Chris' smile, warm and jovial personality made a lasting impact on our community, and he will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and loved ones.

Last week, one of Beacon's landscaping crews visited Tucson Ward 5 Council Member Selina Barajas' office! The visit was extra special because Council Member Barajas grew up with Michael, one of the crew members, making it a chance to reconnect.
We're grateful for the strong connections our organization, including staff and members, has with our community and for leaders like Council Member Barajas who take the time to learn more about the work we're doing every day.
