This week marked a major milestone: the completion of the TARP expansion and new PFAS treatment facilities at the Tucson Airport Remediation Project, better known as TARP.
This $25 million investment was supported through federal, state, and local collaboration and adds a new layer of protection for Tucson’s groundwater, helping address PFAS contamination and protect and restore this critical local resource.
This progress reflects years of partnership to keep Tucson's water safe and secure.
Thank you to Governor Katie Hobbs, Mayor Regina Romero, Arizona Department of Environmental Quality, U.S. EPA Pacific Southwest Region, our federal and state delegations, and especially the members of the Unified Community Advisory Board (UCAB), whose decades of advocacy and partnership have whose sustained leadership and partnership have helped guide this essential work.

A simple change can make a big difference. When washing your car, use a hose nozzle with a shut-off trigger or turn the water off while you’re scrubbing.

Letting the hose run continuously can waste gallons of water. Instead, wet your car, turn off the water while you wash, then turn it back on for a quick rinse.

-Manage your account
-Check service requests
-Apply for financial assistance
-See more information about your water use

Not all fountains use water the same way. Choosing a fountain with a gentle cascade or trickling water helps you enjoy the relaxing sound of moving water while using it more efficiently versus one that sprays water high into the air. This is an important consideration in the Sonoran Desert, where even during monsoon season, our summer temperatures regularly climb above 100°F and dry, breezy afternoons can quickly increase water loss.

Pair it with a recirculating pump, check water levels regularly, and place it in partial shade whenever possible to reduce evaporation even more.

Beautiful landscapes and water conservation can go hand in hand.

Don't toss those leftover ice cubes, give them to your plants instead!

If you drop a few ice cubes while filling your drink or have some left in the cooler at the end of the day, place them on top of the soil in your hanging baskets, planters, or potted plants. As the ice melts slowly, the water has time to soak in.

It's a simple way to reduce water waste, especially during Tucson's hot summer months when plants dry out quickly. Every little bit helps keep your plants happy while making the most of every drop.
