Labor Day Holiday Closure Reminder

In observance of Labor Day, all Tucson Parks and Recreation pools, recreation centers, and administrative offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 7.
Regular hours will resume Tuesday, Sept. 8.

**Want to become a lifeguard? Start now!**
Tucson Parks and Recreation is hiring lifeguards to help keep our City pools safe, and you can begin the certification process this fall.

-Ages 15+
-Starting pay: $16.75/hour
-Lifeguard class offered during Fall Break in October
-Additional class offered in November

Lifeguard certification is an intense, fast-paced course, so strong swimming skills are required.

Now Hiring: Pottery Class Instructor!
Turn your love of clay into a chance to create, teach and connect with the community! Tucson Parks and Recreation is looking for a Pottery Class Instructor to lead engaging leisure classes for participants of different ages and skill levels.

As an instructor, you’ll:
-Teach and demonstrate pottery techniques
-Help participants learn to use pottery wheels, kilns, glazing tools and other equipment
-Prepare materials and set up the studio for classes
-Create a welcoming and positive experience for participants
-Help maintain pottery equipment, supplies and studio spaces

-Part-time, up to 24 hours/week
-Classes may be held during the day, evenings and Saturdays
-1 year of relevant experience required
-Pottery experience and knowledge of clay techniques preferred
-Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. required

As a Front Desk Recreation Worker, you’ll:
-Help customers with programs, classes, memberships and facility information
-Process registrations, reservations and payments
-Assist with recreation programs, rentals and special events
-Help keep recreation centers safe, clean and organized
-Provide customer service in person and over the phone

-Part-time, up to 24 hours/week
-Schedules may include mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays
-Applicants must be at least 18 years old
-At least 3 months of employment or volunteer experience involving customer contact required

Armory Park Storm Damage Update

We are heartbroken to see the tree loss from last night’s storm at Armory Park. The storm caused significant damage, including:

-Four trees lost
-Significant damage to fencing at the new dog park

Our crews are on-site this morning assessing the damage and beginning cleanup of the fallen trees.

The Armory Park Dog Park will remain closed until further notice while the damage is assessed and repairs are completed.
