CITY OF TUCSON CELEBRATES THE GRAND OPENING OF
A NEW PLAYGROUND AT FORT LOWELL PARK

Date: Friday, Jan. 13, at 12:30 p.m.
Location: Fort Lowell Park, 2900 N. Craycroft Road

Mayor Regina Romero, City of Tucson Ward 2 Council Member Paul Cunningham, and Tucson Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce the completion of a new playground at Fort Lowell Park. The project included new playground structures with shade and an ADA-accessible walkway.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer this new playground to families in the Tucson area,” said Ward 2 Council Member Paul Cunningham. “The City of Tucson is committed to providing safe, fun, and accessible places for children and families to play. We look forward to seeing the Fort Lowell playground enjoyed by many.”

The new playground is designed to create a safe, fun, and positive environment for kids and families to enjoy. The playground features a variety of play structures designed to encourage physical activity, social interaction, and imaginative play. The playground was made possible through Tucson Delivers, 2018 voter-approved Proposition 407 bond funds and a generous donation of the latest in play innovations from Burke.

“Bringing play to communities is our passion, mission and business,” said Michael Phelan, president and CEO of BCI Burke. “It was our pleasure to work with the City of Tucson and Play it Safe Playgrounds to bring this engaging and exciting playspace to this community. We’re so excited for everyone to be able to play, connect, develop and have fun in this new space.”

Burke designed the playground and Play it Safe Playgrounds performed the install for this project.

We are also saddened to see the vandalism that occurred at Jacobs Park. If you're interested in supporting efforts to rebuild parts of the park, please consider donating to Tucson Parks Foundation. All money collected goes to supporting Tucson Parks and Recreation.

We were saddened to see the vandalism of the playground at Jacobs Park, but are encouraged by the outpouring of support from the community asking how they can help rebuild. The Tucson Parks Foundation, a 501(c)(3) that directly benefits Tucson Parks and Recreation, has set up a donation account specifically to go toward replacing this equipment. ❤️

Ever think "it’s no big deal if I don’t pick up my dog's p**p?" Imagine there's one dog for every 10 people. In a town of 100,000 people, that's 10,000 dogs. Now imagine if NONE of those people picked up their dog's waste. That's 10,000-20,000 p**ps on the ground every day!
