Welcome to Meteorological Summer on this first day of June. The week ahead has high temperatures +/- a few degrees of normal for Southeast Arizona. Moisture creeps into the eastern areas Tuesday with low end chances (10-20%) of mostly dry thunderstorms Wednesday & Thursday.

Precipitation: Odds tilt towards above normal precipitation. El Niño development could lead to increased tropical cyclone activity and increased precipitation, especially August-September.

Temperature: Odds tilt towards warmer than average temperatures.

🌵🔆Sunny and warm across the majority of Southeast Arizona today.

An anomalously cool weather disturbance moving into California will result in generally below normal temperatures (3 to 6 degrees) Wednesday and Thursday across our neck of the woods, with as much as 10 to 14 degrees below normal across far western Pima county. This system will also result in breezy to locally windy southwest winds from Tucson west.

Otherwise, we will see a warm-up in temperatures early next week as a ridge of high pressure tries to build into the Desert Southwest.

A weather system will bring chances for rain showers and thunderstorms, starting this afternoon and into tonight. Rainfall amounts will be little to no rain accumulations.

These storms and rain showers have a 10-30% potential to produce gusty and erratic winds of 35 mph or Higher. Blowing dust is possible.
