Two people were killed early Monday outside Venture-N, a midtown gay bar in Tucson, according to reporting from LOOKOUT by John Washington and Joseph Darius Jaafari.

The police are investigating it as a hate crime. Investigators say the suspect, Ousman Ceesay, 44, was carrying a list of LGBTQ+ businesses when he confronted and fatally shot Cameron Davis Capara, 33 and Vincent Anthony Siqueiros, 42, in the parking lot.

Davis Capara was a photographer who previously worked with The Copper Courier in a freelance capacity, and Siqueiros was known by friends as a pillar of Tucson's q***r community. Our hearts and deepest condolences go out to Cameron and Vincent’s loved ones, and all who are grieving across Arizona’s LGBTQ+ community.

🕯️ A community vigil is scheduled for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Catalina Park on Fourth Avenue in Tucson.

More than 1,000 Tucsonans came to a candlelight vigil Wednesday evening, remembering the two victims of a murder-suicide outside the Venture-N gay bar, which was dubbed a hate crime by police. Loved ones described the two men as friendly and kind to others.

Gloria Steinem didn't just report on the women's movement — she built its infrastructure. Co-founding Ms. magazine in 1972, she gave second-wave feminism a national voice and a permanent record. Her decades of advocacy on reproductive rights, workplace equality, and political representation reshaped American public life, earning her the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2013. She remained active into her 90s, still writing and organizing. Gloria showed us how to roll up our sleeves to advocate for women and we will not forget her.
