As you all have seen the flooding going on right now either by news, Facebook or in person then you know it is bad. Areas unheard of to flood, people not just in Jefferson County but everywhere in the path of the Arkansas River are devastated by the loss of homes, property, animals, personal belongings and the list goes on. You have stress and then there is flood stress, you have no place to retreat to to get your thoughts in order and even if you did then there's the reality of total loss, no help guaranteed, living in a shelter, eating food prepared by other people, being great full that there are people that take the time out of there lives to come volunteer where needed. You cannot just go home and crawl under the covers which is really all you want to do.
Now with all this being said, imagine you living that life, your sibling has taken you in, that's 15 to 16 people in one house, at 5:30am you awake to one member calling out fire, dead sleep scrambling for clothes to put on and kids. That is what happened this morning to two of our firefighters nieces and nephews and their kids. We got the call at 5:52am, Sherrill, Tucker, Altheimer and Wright Pastoria, there's a certain heartache to pull up on scene to family. A childhood home for the first twenty years of life for another firefighter, thankfull everyone is safe. Now they've lost from the flood on top of a fire.
I'm asking that everyone keep all of these flood victims in your prayers. If anyone around here wants to help out with food, water, personal hygiene supplies you can take them to the Wright Pastoria Fire Department located in Wright by the Country Store. Everything is needed. If you cannot deliver out here and have food or items feel free to contact Julie or Keith Kendrick at 8703297528 for pick up.
God Bless and stay safe
