DKPD's PAL unit was keeping busy last week!
🏀They launched the After Dark Summer Basketball League, which starts official league play this week. Twelve teams are signed up! They'll play in a positive, late-night environment designed to reduce juvenile crime during the summer months.
☑️Also, the PAL unit was honored to host Dr. Stephen Coan, President and CEO of the National Association of Police Athletic/Activities Leagues. He praised the quality and impact of DKPD's PAL programs and expressed commitment to supporting future growth and making sure others across the country learn about PAL's positive work in DeKalb County.
☑️PAL Pathways participants volunteered at Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson's Juneteenth Celebration at Rainbow Park. They learned about the historical significance of Juneteenth while developing teamwork, leadership, customer service and workforce readiness skills.
⚽PAL's soccer program continues at Pleasantdale Park, offering opportunities for team-building, communication, and discipline while playing on the field.
💧And PAL's Summer Swim Day Camp is entering its third week, with lessons on water safety and positive social interaction. Campers also learned how to make bracelets! Way to go, PAL!

DKPD was honored to be part of this year's Derwin Brown Day at Shoal Creek Park II. Law enforcement, families, and friends came together to pay tribute to the life and legacy of Sheriff-Elect Brown. Thanks to the Brown family for sharing their memories, to Derwin Brown Masonic Lodge 599 for the delicious food, and the DJ and vendors at the event. It was a true reflection of the love and pride we have for our community-something that would have made Sheriff-Elect Brown proud.

MATTIE'S CALL: June Warhurst, 92, was last seen at 6:33 a.m. June 14, leaving the 2300 block of Suncrest Lane. She's 5'7", 120 lbs., clothing details unknown. She was driving a 2020 white Nissan Rogue, license plate JUNE G. If you see her, call 770-724-7710. (

MISSING: Micah, 16, was last seen around 3a.m. June 18 near the 9300 block of Kensington Trail in Lithonia. He's 5'8", 130 lbs., with brown eyes and black hair. He is autistic and may move his hands in a shaking motion, click his teeth and walk in a bobbing motion. Micah may also stare off in space without moving.
