You don't think about bathrooms until you don't have them. While ours were being rebuilt, Royal Flush Plumbing donated an air-conditioned portable restroom that let us keep holding events at the Post through the whole process — no small thing. And when it came time to install the real thing, Cowan Supply donated every toilet and sink in the building. Two partners, zero fanfare, and they got nothing back for it. That's the kind of community that rebuilt us.

Twenty-five years ago today. We pause to remember those we lost, and we're grateful for every veteran and first responder who answered the call that followed. Never forget.

If you're a veteran, especially one exposed to burn pits or other toxins during service, there's real news worth knowing: hypertension and MGUS were added as presumptive PACT Act conditions this year, and a mandatory four-year review is now looking at roughly 47 more. The Atlanta VA also runs a Toxic Exposure Screening Navigator program to help veterans figure out what they may be eligible for. We're not a VA office, but we want every veteran who reads this to know what's actually available to them.

The rebuild keeps moving at Post 207 — sidewalks going in outside, a bathroom taking shape, and lights on in the meeting room for the first time in a while. Every one of these is a step closer to opening our doors again.

Repay means paying back with community support — and this year that's shown up in a lot of places.

At Tucker High School, we awarded 8 American Legion School Medals and 5 scholarships to students who've shown real leadership. We sponsored 2 boys to Boys State and 1 girl to Girls State. And you'll see our name on the sponsor banner at the TYSA field this season too.

Small things — a medal, a banner, a sponsorship. Big thing for the kids and families on the other end of them.
