This past spring, SMMS purchased three Dodge ambulances. This morning, two of them were inspected along with one of our reserve ambulances. Apparently spot lights are required in ambulances, but thankfully for two cigarette powered spot lights the units passed. The third Dodge is still getting radios installed, and is scheduled for inspection in mid September.

Our new Dodges will be placed in service after a few more SMMS touches, to include set-up for our new Ferno stretchers, med box and spot light installation. These Dodge units will be replacing older and aging units.

From the EMR class we recently hosted, Mr. Nolan Smith was the very first student to test with National Registry and pass his exam. Nolan literally turned in his application with SMMS the very hour he knew he passed National Registry. Congratulations Nolan!

Nolan is the student who is all bandaged up in the EMR class pictures. He refused to press charges he said. LOL

Nolan is currently employed with us now and remains a volunteer firefighter with the Navajo Nation Fire & Rescue here in Tuba City.

Our EMR class finished in June, and seven (7) successfully completed the program. A few have tested with National Registry and are certified. Here are a few pictures from our class that lasted a little over 2 months.

Keep following us as we will be hosting another EMR class in the very near future.

The EMR course is a go, and we still have seats available. As such, we will continue to take applications and accept you in the program so as long as your application is complete and payment is made by the first day of class. Applications can be download on our website or picking one up at SMMS Administration located behind Sonic.

We will be conducting an EMR course starting April 7, 2017. Deadline for applications is March 29, 2017. Requirements are not as strict and lengthy as the EMT course, but successful completion of this course and passing of your national exam will make you eligible for employment with SMMS. The Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course is an entry-level emergency medical provider course that will prepare individuals for employment or a volunteer position in a variety of pre-hospital, industrial and first responder settings.
