Oregon Association of Reserve Peace Officers

Oregon Association of Reserve Peace Officers As a subchapter of the Oregon Peace Officers Association, we are the only state association dedicate The cost is always reasonable and includes lunch.

Our annual Training Conference provides an opportunity to receive training not offered elsewhere, as well as an opportunity to interact with fellow reserves from across the state. In addition to training, the conference offers a great opportunity to meet other Reserve Officers and exchange ideas. OARPO members also benefit by being allowed to attend many OPOA training sessions at 50% off the regul

ar class fee. Check with the OPOA training coordinator to determine if this discount is available on the course you are interested in attending. OARPO members can also help the association to better serve the Reserve Officers in Oregon by participating on the Executive Board. The Board plans OARPO events, including the conference. While it may sound demanding, modern technology has made our meetings a monthly conference call that typically lasts no more than an hour. Reserve Officers are a vital part of many law enforcement agencies. Our mission is to help increase the knowledge and skills of the Reserve Officers; this is good for the officer, it’s good for the agencies, and it is good for the citizens we serve. Please join us as we strive for the continued and expand the professionalism of the Oregon Reserve Peace Officer.

The Oregon Association of Reserve Peace Officers (OARPO) is deeply saddened by the line-of-duty death of Reserve Corporal Joseph Johnson of the Nyssa Police Department. While volunteering his time serving the community of Nyssa, Cpl. Johnson was shot and killed Sunday, April16th, following a pursuit after responding to a disturbance call.

Cpl. Johnson had been a reserve officer with Nyssa PD since 2018. Cpl. Johnson was also employed by the Oregon Department of Corrections as a behavioral health specialist at the Snake River Correctional Institution.

We send our love and support to the Johnson family, his many friends, and his colleagues with the Nyssa Police Department and the Oregon Department of Corrections. OARPO stands ready to offer any assistance we can provide to those touched by this tragic event.
