The 911 anniversary or the attack on America is right around the corner. Believe it or not it has been 25 years.
We follow Chief Billy Goldfelder and “The Secret List” were they keep us aware of firefighter line of duty deaths and the circumstances surrounding them. They do this to educate and train all fire and EMS personnel. They have provided the attached link.

The Cortland County Department of Emergency Response & Communications extends its sincere congratulations to City of Cortland Fire Chief Wayne Friedman on being named the 2026 Career Fire Chief of the Year.

This prestigious recognition reflects Chief Friedman’s outstanding leadership, unwavering commitment to public safety, and dedicated service to the residents of the City of Cortland and Cortland County.

Throughout his career, Chief Friedman has demonstrated professionalism, innovation, and a passion for advancing the fire service while fostering strong partnerships throughout our emergency response community.

In addition to his duties as Fire Chief, Chief Friedman serves as a New York State Fire Instructor assigned to Cortland County, where he plays a vital role in training and mentoring firefighters, helping ensure the highest standards of preparedness and safety throughout our region.

We are proud to work alongside Chief Friedman and the members of the Cortland Fire Department. Please join us in congratulating him on this well-deserved honor and thanking him for his continued service, leadership, and dedication to the fire service and our community.

Join us on Sunday, July 19, 2026 as the Syracuse Mets take on the Buffalo Bisons with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 PM.

The pre-game tailgate will start at 11:00 am and be located in the north end of the parking lot (look for the tents).

This special day is an opportunity for firefighters, EMS providers, law enforcement, dispatchers, auxiliary members, family and friends from across Central New York to come together for a great afternoon of baseball, camaraderie and appreciation for those who serve our communities every day.

Maybe you saw our upgraded UTV in the Memorial Day Parade. We recently purchased this 1000 cc unit which nicely carries our brush fire tank and pump with room for firemen too.

Just a short reminder for all of our friends that like chicken!
The Truxton Fire Department will be having a chicken barbecue on Memorial Day, starting at 11:00 am. The price for the chicken will be $10 per half. The Auxiliary will also be having a bake sale and there will also be two raffle baskets. Come visit Truxton for a taste of small town America.
The “Parade” is at 10:00 am with a ceremony at the cemetery honoring two of our oldest residents.

As we prepare for Memorial Day, we would like to thank CNY Farm Supply and Adam Daley for selling us this excellent Stihl power washer.. We use the turbo nozzle a lot and the soap dispenser works well.
