🔥 **Spear Fire Update** 🔥

The Spear Fire is currently estimated at approximately 30 acres with minimal containment.

Agencies on scene include State Forestry, BLM, and the Sierra County Office of Emergency Management, all actively working to manage the fire.

At this time, **No structures are threatened**.

Additional resources are en route to assist with suppression efforts. Crews anticipate an operational period lasting several days to ensure full containment and the extinguishment of all hot spots.

Please avoid the area to allow first responders to work safely and efficiently. Updates will be provided as they become available.

🚨 **Public Safety Notice** 🚨

There is currently an active fire estimated at approximately 15 acres in size in the Los Palomas Canyon area near A-Spear Ranch.

For your safety and to allow emergency personnel to respond effectively, please avoid the area until further notice. First responders are actively working the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office is advising the public of a tentative temporary road closures along County Road A013 in support of a Spaceport mission on April 17th. Updates will come, if and when this mission is confirmed.

📍 **Closure Locations:**
• Point of Rocks Trailhead area between Milepost 10 and Milepost 11
• Near Milepost 28

🕘 **Estimated Closure Time:**
Approximately **0900 to 1200 hours**

Please use caution on Highway 51 near milepost 7. There is a partial road closure at this time affecting East bound traffic. Updates will come when available.

Highway 51 is no longer affected by any closures.

The Sierra County Sheriff's Office is investigating the suspicious death of a female subject within Sierra County. This investigation was initiated after a Sierra County Sheriff’s Deputy encountered a suspicious vehicle on State Highway 51. There is no danger to the public related to this case. This is an ongoing investigation and further details will be released at a later time.

The Sierra County Sheriff's Office has been made aware of a confirmed case of rabies within Sierra County. In this case, a bobcat encountered a group of domestic dogs in the Hermosa area.

We are asking everyone to remain vigilant while in areas where wild animals could be. If you encounter any wild animal that is exhibiting signs of unusual behavior, do not approach them and contact New Mexico Game and Fish or the Sierra County Sheriff's Office immediately.

Please make sure all domestic animals are properly vaccinated.
