The plover chicks are hatching and that means pet closures are starting. The newest closure is Corn Hill to the south. The ORV access has been closed and pets are no longer allowed to the left of the entrance, all the way down to the north jetty.

At this point in time, you can still walk your pet ON LEASH, on the backside, aka the inside, of Corn Hill-south.

Corn Hill - north is still open to pets.

Please check out our Pet Closure website for additional closures/restrictions.

It's bathing beach season! :) 🌊

That means that you will start to see staff from the County, and sometimes local Health Department, out at the beaches taking water samples.

What are they looking for?

The main goal is to detect and prevent illness caused by pathogens in bathing water. The state-certified lab measures Enterococci, a group of bacteria that serve as indicator organisms for f***l contamination. While Enterococci themselves are not always directly harmful, their presence signals possible contamination from human or animal waste, which can cause illnesses such as urinary tract infections, skin, eye, ear, and respiratory diseases.

We are off to a good start!
