Trumbull EMS is an award winning service, dedicated to providing the highest level of pre-hospital care to ensure the health, safety and well-being of our r

esidents and neighbors. We are a high volume, 911 only service providing basic and advanced life support. Our Agency delivers evidence based, patient focused care using progressive and innovative treatment protocols to ensure best practice outcomes. We provide special operations & UTV training and support, and are actively involved in community outreach and community health programs. The EMS Chief, working under the direction of the EMS Commission, ensures quality patient care and efficient delivery of pre-hospital emergency medical care to all residents and visitors of the Town of Trumbull. The EMS Chief oversees the daily operation of emergency calls, direction of all EMS staff, delivery of community health and safety programs and our clinical education division. Trumbull EMS consists of both volunteer and career staff that work seamlessly together to provide critical, lifesaving prehospital care to the Town of Trumbull. The department consists of approximately 60 volunteer and 50 career employees. Our team works on site 24/7, 365 days a year, to serve our residents and visitors to our town. Currently, Trumbull EMS responds to over 4500 emergency 9-1-1 calls each year.

Trumbull EMS proudly accepted their first unit of life saving blood product today from the Bridgeport Hospital Blood Bank. Through a collaborative partnership with Bridgeport Hospital, Trumbull EMS paramedics are now equipped with the tools and education necessary for paramedics to administer blood transfusions directly in their ambulances at the point of care.

“When assessing and treating bleeding patients, every second matters,” said Doug Latham, EMS medical director for Bridgeport Hospital. “The ability to transfuse blood prior to arriving at the hospital improves patient outcomes by addressing hemorrhagic shock during the most critical time, stabilizing patients until they arrive at the hospital for ongoing treatment and mitigating the effects of severe blood loss in critically injured and/or bleeding patients.”

Chief Bassett and the TEMS team have worked hard to ensure our team is always trained and ready to deliver cutting-edge, evidence driven care. Adding blood to our clinical scope will without a doubt save lives.

Trumbull's Lightning Detection System is LIVE!

Lightning Detection has been installed in our major recreational areas in town. Scan the QR code or visit https://trumbull.strikeviewpro.com to view live status.

If lightning is within 5 miles, the system will sound a siren three times and strobes will flash continuously alerting people to clear the area. Once 30 minutes has passed with no lightning, two airhorns will sound letting people know it is safe to resume activity.

Lightning detection covers our major recreational areas in town:

The Trumbull High School system covers Indian Ledge Park, Twin Brooks, and Beach Memorial Pool.

The Town Hall system covers Unity Park, Island Brook Park, Madison Middle School, and Kaechele Field.

The Tashua Knolls system covers the golf course, Tashua Pool, and Old Mine Park.
