The Trumbull Fire Departments will host the Bridgeport Area Retired Firefighters memorial service on Tuesday June 2, 2026 beginning at 7pm. The service will be held at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church. The service is held annually in the Bridgeport area to honor all firefighters lost in the line of duty while serving their community. In Trumbull, Long Hill FD Assistant Chief Chester J Main and Nichols FD Assistant Chief George C Butz, are honored annually at this ceremony.

This afternoon (5/9)

Long Hill responded to two separate close calls, that could have ended much worse. One electrical fire caused by an outlet, and one stove fire while cooking.

Both incidents are currently under investigation by the Fire marshals office, however we want to use this images as a great reminder on the importance of smoke detectors in your home. The NFPA reports that nearly 3 out of 5 deaths in house fires were from homes without functioning smoke detectors.

This morning (4/17)

Just before 7AM, Long Hill, as well as Trumbull Center and Trumbull EMS were dispatched to Rt15NB for the report of an MVA with extrication.

LH1 arrived on scene to find 1 car that had partially rolled and came to rest on its wheels just north of Frenchtown Rd with 1 occupant unable to exit the vehicle. Crews from E205 as well as LH3 assisted the occupant out of the vehicle and into the care of EMS.

Last Thursday (4/9)

At approximately 11:30 Long Hill was dispatched to the intersection of Madison Ave and Lafayette Dr for the report of a car fire.

LH4 arrived on scene to confirm an engine compartment fire in a Ford Explorer. Crews from Engines 206 and 205 extinguished the fire and remained on scene to assist the tow company.

NEW APPARATUS ANNOUNCEMENT:

With the localized increase over the past few years in brush and wild-land fires, both in district and in the surrounding area, Long Hill has obtained a Caterpillar tracked skid steer machine to assist in the suppression and overhaul of wild-land fires. Equipped on the front is a hydraulic brush breaker as well as a 405 gallon water tank, pump, remote monitor and 100’ hose reel. This vehicle will be primarily trailered and responding in compliment to our existing Polaris Ranger.

Our new single seat machine will respond under the radio designation “Skid 226” and is expected to be placed in service late April after factory training has been given to all in house operators.
