Water Service Interruption – Thank You for Your Patience

We’d like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during yesterday’s unexpected water outage.

A water main valve failed unexpectedly, requiring an emergency repair that temporarily disrupted service for some residents. Because this was not a planned repair, we were unable to provide advance notice.

For future scheduled valve replacements, we’ll do our best to provide at least one week’s notice when water service will be affected.

Spring Cleanup for Village of Trumansburg Residents!

Spring is here, and it's time to clean up! Our free Dial-a-Truck service is available to Village of Trumansburg residents for yard cleanup. You can reserve the truck weeknights, Monday through Thursday, or have it Friday through Monday morning. We accept mulchable materials like branches, leaves, and lawn clippings. The Trumansburg Green Waste Center on Pennsylvania Ave. is open on Mondays and Fridays, from 6:30 A.M. until 3:00 P.M.

Please note: No dirt, rocks, tree stumps, construction debris, tires, or garbage.

Start thinking Spring!

This week, we had our brush dump ground into fresh mulch for reuse! Keep an eye out in the next couple of weeks for new pricing on mulch sales. We sell mulch to everyone and offer delivery to village residents only. Want to skip the delivery fee? Bring your trailer or buy by the pickup or dump truck load.

As spring cleanups approach, don’t forget about our Dial-A-Truck service! Village residents can use this free service to fill a dump truck with yard waste overnight or over the weekend—no charge for pickup.

A quick reminder: We only accept brush, yard waste, and other items that can be ground into mulch. No construction debris, rocks, dirt, tires, metal, etc.

🚰 South St water break 2/20

On Thursday, we had our 8th water break of the year on South St. The recent cold snap and frozen ground are tough on water mains, which can lead to breaks like this. After getting the break fixed, our DPW crew had to quickly shift gears to start plowing and salting as the snow started falling staying late into the evening. ❄️

Big shoutout to our hardworking crew for managing these challenging conditions! If you notice any suspicious water boils or flowing water, please report them right away – they could be a sign of a potential water break.

🚰 Trumansburg's Water Tower - A Vital Part of Our Community!

In 2005, the Village of Trumansburg replaced its original water tower constructed in 1933 with a new tower that stores 500,000 gallons. Over 90% of our water system is powered solely by gravity pressure from the height of the tank. For every 2.31' of elevation, water pressure increases by 1 psi.

This means homes at lower elevations will experience higher water pressure compared to those at higher elevations relative to the tower’s location.

From the base of one of our wells at Taughannock State Park to the top of the tower, we have a stunning 773’ elevation difference—that’s 3.5 times the height of Taughannock Falls! 🌊

And the base? It’s a handy storage spot for seasonal gear like snow plows, lawn mowers, and more! 🛠️
