Arkansas taxpayers are being asked to put more money into private education while some private schools are raising tuition and fees. That means the cost to taxpayers can continue to grow while public dollars flow to schools that are not part of the public school system. Every dollar spent through LEARNS is a taxpayer dollar, and Arkansans deserve to know where that money is going, why costs are increasing, and who is benefiting. Taxpayers should not be left footing a bigger bill without greater accountability.

Arkansas' top 10 private schools ranked by state funding raised their tuition and fees by as much as 42% from fall 2023 to fall 2026, according to records from the Arkansas Department of Education. That outpaces the increases under the Arkansas LEARNS Act — families who receive Educational Freedom Account funds for 2026-27 are averaging about 8% more per student than they received in 2023-24.

The private school that received the most Arkansas taxpayer funds in 2025-26 was Springdale-based Shiloh Christian School, where the average cost of tuition has risen 24% since the Arkansas LEARNS Act took effect.

I am proud to not only serve on this board but work in the community serving the families we represent but also advocating for them as well! I will do the same at the Capitol as your state representative, i will speak up and speak out!

The CES waiver situation is deeper than just a wait list. The issues restricts access to a sustainable quality of life and causes pressure on the family to present a quality of care that they sometimes cannot afford. The lack of attention to the waitlist is why our founder started this board because those families needed a voice!

We offer tool kits to help the families but we are not limited to that we have lived experience and we want to fight for every family that wants us in the thick of it with them! We need the governor to call a special session and CLEAR this wait list and ADRESS OUR HEALTHCARE CRISIS!

The Ouachita County Quorum Court heard concerns over the consolidation of the tax collector and treasurer offices after an Arkansas attorney general’s opinion found the move unconstitutional.

Citizens also raised concerns about Flock cameras, while Circuit Clerk Gladys Nettles urged the county to consider larger raises for employees struggling with rising costs.

I’m honored to receive the endorsement of Garrett Barnes, Craighead County JP for District 2.

Garrett’s words mean a great deal to me because they speak directly to the kind of leadership I believe Arkansas needs faith, service, balance, strong public schools, and putting people over politics.

I have never believed public office should be about titles or political games. It should be about showing up, listening to people, and fighting for the communities we call home.

Thank you, Garrett, for your confidence, your support, and your willingness to stand with me in this campaign. I’m grateful for your endorsement, and I’m asking the people of District 36 to join us as we work toward a stronger future for all of Arkansas.

Let’s put People Over Politics and Progress Over Partisanship.

When I started this race, Representative Jessie McGruder was one of the first people to get behind me and push me forward. From the beginning, he preached consistency and constantly reminded me of the importance of the content of my character. His wisdom, encouragement, and belief in me have meant more than he knows, and I am truly grateful to now receive his endorsement. Representative McGruder has had the opportunity to watch me on this journey, not just on the campaign trail, but through my service and commitment to the community. As he said, “I’m proud to endorse Shamal Carter. He is a man of character, vision, and most importantly, a man of God. I’ve had the opportunity to observe his dedication both on the campaign trail and in the community of Jonesboro. His commitment to service and strong moral foundation make him the kind of leader we need.” I’m honored to have his support as we continue this journey to the Arkansas House of Representatives. Thank you, Representative McGruder, for believing in me and standing with me.

Today, I had the honor of sitting down with Senator John Cooper, who not only blessed my campaign with his endorsement but also shared some powerful wisdom about true leadership. He reminded me that “Leadership is not putting your political finger in the air to determine where the masses are and then hurrying to catch up, but determining what is good and true, and then convincing the masses to follow the right course.” That message truly resonated with me. Leadership is about truth, integrity, courage, and standing firm on what is right, even when it may not be the easiest or most popular path. I am grateful for Senator Cooper’s endorsement, his wisdom, and his belief in my campaign. Together, we will continue to put People Over Politics and Progress Over Partisanship.
