**INVESTIGATION UPDATE**

The Trumann Police Department is providing an update regarding the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Rebecca Lucille Montgomery.

Human remains were discovered on August 21, 2026, during the ex*****on of a search warrant at a property in Trumann. The remains were submitted to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for examination and identification.

The Trumann Police Department has now received confirmation that the remains have been positively identified as Rebecca Lucille Montgomery by the Arkansas State Crime Lab.

Our thoughts remain with Rebecca’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. We ask that their privacy be respected as they continue to navigate this loss.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Therefore, at this time, no further information regarding the circumstances surrounding Rebecca’s death is available for release. Additional information will be provided when it can be confirmed and released without compromising the integrity of the investigation.

🐾🚔 TRUMANN POLICE DEPARTMENT WELCOMES TWO NEW K-9s 🚔🐾

The Trumann Police Department is proud to introduce the newest members of our department — K-9 Niko and K-9 Reaper!

K-9 Niko will be partnered with Sgt. Zac Fleming, and K-9 Reaper will be partnered with Officer Jarred Carter.

These K-9 teams will be valuable additions to our department, assisting our officers with narcotics detection, tracking, apprehension, article searches, and community demonstrations.

Adding these two K-9 teams strengthens our ability to serve and protect the citizens of Trumann while providing our officers with additional resources to combat crime and enhance public safety.

We are also pleased to announce that both K-9s were obtained at no cost to the City of Trumann, allowing us to expand our K-9 program without placing an additional financial burden on our citizens.

Please join us in welcoming K-9 Niko and K-9 Reaper to the Trumann Police Department family. We wish both K-9 teams many years of safe and successful service to our community!

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING BEFORE THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT an application by Dylan Qualls d/b/a Q26 Legacy LLC for a hearing regarding a conditional use permit has been filed with the Trumann Planning and Zoning Commission wherein the conditional use is for a private training facility located at 1101 Fire Station Road in Trumann Arkansas.

A PUBLIC HEARING on said application will be held by the Trumann Planning and Zoning Commission at 6:00 PM on September 15, 2026 at the Judicial Complex located at 221 South Melton in Trumann Arkansas.

ALL PARTIES IN INTEREST MAY BE HEARD at said time and place or may notify the Planning and Zoning Commission by letter of their views on this matter.

THE APPLICATION is on file for public inspection at the City Clerk’s office in the Municipal Complex.

Rudy A. Ray appeared before the Poinsett County District Court today, August 31st, 2026, where the court denied bond and ordered him to remain in custody pending his next court appearance. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 18th, 2026 in the Poinsett County Circuit Court.

Ray was denied bond on the charges of Murder in the First Degree, Abuse of a Co**se, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

This case remains ongoing and no further information will be released at this time that could compromise the investigation or pending court proceedings.

On August 28, 2026, officers with the Trumann Police Department took custody of Ray in Franklin, Tennessee, and transported him back to Arkansas.

Ray is currently being held on the following charges:

* First-Degree Murder
* Abuse of a Co**se
* Tampering with Physical Evidence

Ray is scheduled to appear for a bond hearing on August 31, 2026, in Harrisburg, Arkansas in the Poinsett County Circuit Court.

The Trumann Police Department will continue to provide information as appropriate while respecting the integrity of the ongoing legal proceedings.

TRUMANN POLICE DEPARTMENT - PRESS RELEASE

**Missing Person Investigation Leads to Discovery of Human Remains**

On August 14, 2026, the Trumann Police Department received a missing person report regarding Rebecca Lucille Montgomery.

As part of the ongoing investigation, investigators with the Trumann Police Department obtained a search warrant for property located at 401 N. Pine Ave., Trumann, Arkansas.

At approximately 8:15 a.m. on August 21, 2026, the Trumann Police Department SWAT Team and the Poinsett County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team jointly executed the search warrant at the property.

During the search, investigators located what are believed to be human remains. At this time, the remains have not been positively identified, and no determination has been made regarding the cause or manner of death.

The remains will be submitted to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory in Little Rock for further examination and analysis. This process will assist investigators in determining the identity of the remains and, when possible, the cause and manner of death.

The Trumann Police Department is receiving operational assistance from the Poinsett County Sheriff's Office, Arkansas State Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

This investigation remains active and ongoing. Investigators are continuing to process the scene, gather evidence, and follow all available leads. Additional information will be released when it can be confirmed and when doing so will not compromise the integrity of the investigation.

The Trumann Police Department extends its appreciation to the Poinsett County Sheriff's Office, Arkansas State Police, FBI, and all other agencies assisting with this investigation.
