Mopeds and motorized bikes with a max speed of 20 miles per hour or lower are street legal–with a license. Operators must have a driver's license, and riders aged 14-15 are eligible for a moped-only license.

This category does not include e-bikes–more on those next week!

These bikes may not be operated on any sidewalk or shared use path, and riders must obey all applicable traffic laws.

The Troy Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying the suspects shown in this video. An officer on patrol came across this scene on Chatham Dr. in Troy, and the pursuit was terminated on southbound I-75 near Vandalia. The vehicle involved had been stolen from Centerville.

Unfortunately, thefts of and from vehicles in residential neighborhoods continue to be a trend throughout the region. Suspects often target unlocked vehicles to steal cars, fi****ms, and other valuables. Residents are reminded to remove keys and valuables from their vehicles and always lock their vehicle doors to reduce the risk of becoming a victim.

A strong regional network of Flock cameras plays a critical role in quickly recovering stolen vehicles and assisting law enforcement in solving these crimes.

Catching up on our "Know Your Ride" series: drivers must have a specific license to operate a motorcycle or motor scooter anywhere in the City. Parents may be cited for allowing an unlicensed driver to operate one.

Again, traffic laws apply to everyone on the road.🏍️

In Ohio, scooters and e-scooters are classified as micromobility devices and can be ridden on streets or sidewalks–outside of downtown. Keep in mind that anything with the capability to go over 20 miles per hour does *not* fall into this category, cannot be ridden on any sidewalk, and may require a license.

Thinking about buying an e-bike, scooter, or other vehicle for yourself or your child? Small vehicles have exploded in popularity, and so have crashes and complaints involving young riders. Over the next few weeks, the Troy Police Department will share riding rules and reminders for small vehicles, and all vehicles on the road.

From our partners at Ohio Department of Transportation - Dayton District 7:

During the overnight of Sunday, April 19 the exit ramp from I-75 North to SR 41 will be closed, and it will remain closed until late summer 2026. While the ramp is closed, motorists may detour by way of I-75 North and County Road 25A (Exit 78) to I-75 South to SR 41.

While we aimed to keep the ramp open for motorists during the initial phase of construction. However, after recent safety assessments, it was determined that operating the ramp while work is under way poses unnecessary safety risks for both drivers and the construction team. As a result, ODOT has decided upon a full closure of the ramp through this phase of the project.
