Description of the Foundation
The Lincoln County R-III Education Foundation, Inc., an independent, non-profit corporation promoting quality education in the Lincoln County R-III School District schools was established in 2012. It was organized exclusively for educational purposes to provide supplemental funds for educational programs, technology, and activities for the Lincoln County R-III Schoo
l District. Specifically, the Lincoln County R-III Education Foundation seeks and distributes funds to support programs and initiatives to further enhance learning for public school students in the Lincoln County R-III School District. The District’s administration and Board of Education researched the possibility of organizing an education foundation during the fall of 2011 in order to receive financial support to provide supplemental funding to the Lincoln County R-III School District. Mark Penny, Superintendent of the Lincoln County R-III School District, presented a resolution to the Board of Education to support the formation of education foundation, and the resolution was approved. A select group of community volunteers, dedicated to education, was invited to meet with the superintendent in April 2012 to hear the need, vision and benefits of an educational foundation for the Lincoln County R-II School District. The group supported the idea, and various individuals agreed to serve on a Steering Committee to assist with the endeavor. Subsequently, Articles of Incorporation were filed with the State, an organizational meeting of the Foundation was held, bylaws were drafted, programs were developed, and an application was made to the Internal Revenue Service for the Foundation to be recognized as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The Foundation Board is committed to raising funds to support the identified programs and activities of the Foundation.
