Montgomery County Schools’ mission is to graduate College and Career Ready students by preparing them to succeed in a globally diverse society, providing rigorous educational experiences, and building positive relationships with all members of our community. This commitment is evident throughout our district that serves approximately 3,600 students on our 11 educational campuses. Our 11 campuses a

re home to six elementary schools, two middle schools, one central high school, one learning academy, and one early college. Our high school campus includes the Joseph Reese Blair Career and Technical Education Center, a collaborative training facility for Montgomery County Schools and Montgomery Community College students, which offers students training opportunities in career and technical education programs based upon the industry needs of local employers. Our graduation rate has steadily increased and is currently 91%. Of the population we serve, seventy-three percent of students receive free or reduced lunch. Montgomery County is located in the south-central part of North Carolina in the midst of the Uwharrie mountain range where the Uwharrie National Forest encompasses much of the 491 square miles of land. It has a total population of 27,271 with five municipalities (Troy, Candor, Star, Biscoe, and Mount Gilead) that provide basic essential services for its citizens. Rural, heavily forested, and very hilly, Montgomery County has been designated as a β€œlow wealth” county by the State.
