Pike County Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Colby Lange as the new Head Baseball Coach at Pike County High School.

Coach Lange brings a wealth of experience, a proven record of success, and a passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the field. A native of Collinwood, Tennessee, Lange is a graduate of Columbia State Community College and the University of North Alabama, where he earned a degree in Physical Education.

Over the course of his coaching career, Lange has established himself as an outstanding leader and mentor, compiling six years of head coaching experience (Minor and Ashville High School in Alabama), earning three Coach of the Year honors, and leading his teams to two area championships and three state playoff appearances. His commitment to excellence has helped numerous student-athletes earn opportunities to participate in all-star showcases and continue their baseball careers at the collegiate level. During his tenure at Minor High School, the Tigers’ record was an impressive 45-19.

As a player, Lange competed at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels, bringing firsthand experience and knowledge of the game to the athletes he coaches. His dedication to teaching baseball fundamentals, developing players, and building strong team cultures has made him highly respected throughout the baseball community.

Pike County Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Lexie Rainer as the new Head Softball Coach at Pike County High School. A lifelong athlete, coach, mentor, and advocate for student-athlete development, Coach Rainer brings a wealth of playing experience, coaching knowledge, and a passion for helping young people reach their full potential both on and off the field.

Coach Rainer's athletic journey began in South Florida, where she competed in travel softball from the age of ten while also excelling in basketball and volleyball. After relocating to Troy in 2010, she became a standout multi-sport athlete at Pike Liberal Arts School, earning recognition in both volleyball and softball before graduating in 2013. She continued her softball career through competitive travel ball and went on to play collegiately at Enterprise State Community College from 2013 to 2015. For more than a decade, she has continued competing at high levels of slow-pitch softball throughout the Southeast and across the nation. In addition to her playing accomplishments, Coach Rainer has spent more than ten years coaching youth athletes through travel softball organizations and Troy Parks and Recreation programs. Her commitment to developing young athletes has made a lasting impact on players and families throughout the Troy and Pike County communities.

Coach Rainer's philosophy centers on developing the whole student-athlete. She believes that success is built through discipline, passion, accountability, and a relentless commitment to improvement. Her coaching approach emphasizes character, teamwork, faith, and personal growth while helping athletes discover their fullest potential. "Hard work beats talent every single day," Rainer said. "I believe in discipline, passion, and an intense drive because those are the things no scoreboard can take away from you. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead the Pike County High School softball program and look forward to building relationships with our players, families, and community as we pursue excellence together."

Coach Rainer and her husband, Michal, a former collegiate baseball player and current professional slow-pitch athlete, have built their lives around athletics, mentorship, and family. Together, they are raising two children and remain deeply involved in youth sports development throughout the region.

Pike County Schools welcomes Coach Lexie Rainer to the Bulldog family and looks forward to the leadership, enthusiasm, and commitment she will bring to Pike County High School softball for years to come.

Pike County Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Will Austin as the new Head Baseball Coach at Goshen High School. Coach Austin brings a proven record of success, a passion for student-athlete development, and extensive experience both in the classroom and on the baseball field.

Coach Austin joins Goshen after serving as Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Pike Liberal Arts School, where he led the Patriots to remarkable success, including a 2025 Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 2A State Runner-Up finish, four consecutive Class 2A Area 3 Championships (2023-2026), and earned recognition as the 2025 Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) Class 2A Coach of the Year and the 2025 Troy Messenger Coach of the Year. Throughout his coaching career, Austin has built programs centered on discipline, character, hard work, and competitive excellence.

In addition to his head coaching experience, Austin has served in numerous coaching roles at both Pike Liberal Arts School and Ariton High School, including assistant varsity baseball coach, assistant varsity football coach, junior varsity baseball coach, strength and conditioning coach, and educator. His experience spans all levels of athletic development, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of building successful programs and mentoring student-athletes.

A lifelong educator and coach, Austin has consistently emphasized the importance of developing student-athletes beyond athletics. His coaching philosophy focuses on accountability, teamwork, leadership, faith, and personal growth, preparing young men for success in competition and in life.

Austin's accomplishments extend beyond the dugout. He has served as head coach of an American Legion baseball team, instructed baseball lessons throughout the Troy area, and contributed to championship-level programs as both a player and coach. His background as a collegiate baseball player and his extensive certifications in baseball, football, CPR, and First Aid further demonstrate his commitment to excellence in education and athletics. Coach Austin will also serve as a certified social science teacher at Goshen High School.

Pike County Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Ally Clegg as the new Head Softball Coach at Goshen High School. Coach Clegg brings an impressive combination of collegiate playing experience, coaching expertise, educational leadership, and a passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the field.

A native of Georgia and an accomplished former high school and collegiate softball standout, Coach Clegg will serve as a Health and Physical Education teacher and Head Varsity Softball Coach. During the 2025-26 school year, Coach Clegg served in the same capacity at Perry High School in Georgia. Prior to her tenue at Perry High, she served as a Graduate Assistant Softball Coach at Valdosta State University, where she assisted with player development, recruiting, practice planning, team organization, and program management.

Coach Clegg earned a Master of Higher Education Leadership degree from Valdosta State University in 2024, a Bachelor of Recreation and Sport Management degree from Coastal Carolina University in 2021, and an Associate of Arts degree from Chipola College in 2019. She also holds a Georgia Professional Educator Certificate in Health and Physical Education (P–12).

As a player, Clegg distinguished herself at every level of competition. During her career at Valdosta State University, she led the team in multiple offensive categories, including slugging percentage, runs scored, hits, RBIs, and home runs while earning D2CCA Second Team honors. At Chipola College, she was part of a National Championship team, earned Most Outstanding Defensive Player honors at the NJCAA National Championship, and was recognized as a First-Team All-Conference performer. Coach Clegg’s high school career was equally decorated, including multiple All-State selections and Region Player of the Year honors.

Coach Clegg's coaching philosophy emphasizes discipline, accountability, teamwork, character development, and creating a positive culture where student-athletes can thrive. Her experience as both an educator and coach align with Pike County Schools' commitment to excellence and the development of well-rounded students.
