🚩 RED FLAG WARNING – TUESDAY (May 5) | Noon – 7 PM 🚩

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for our area tomorrow. This means dangerous fire conditions are either happening now or expected shortly.
Strong winds, low humidity, and warm temperatures create the perfect environment for fires to start easily and spread rapidly. What starts small can quickly get out of control.

🔥 Do not burn outdoors during this time.
This includes brush, debris, campfires, and fire pits.

🚫 Reminder: The New York State Burn Ban remains in effect. Violations may be reported to the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and can result in enforcement action.

Please take this seriously. One spark is all it takes.

Protect your family. Protect your neighbors. Protect our first responders.

Don’t burn.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of retired Dispatcher Mary Jane Hanley #18.

Mary Jane began her career in emergency communications with the City of Troy before continuing her service with Rensselaer County 911, where she proudly served until her retirement in September 2017 after 25 years of dedicated service.

Mary Jane was a friend to everyone… known for her contagious laugh, warm personality, and dependable nature. She was always early for her shifts and brought positivity into the workplace each day. Outside of work, she loved bowling, was a proud New York Yankees fan, and absolutely cherished her fur babies, all of which brought her great joy.

Her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know and work alongside her.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to her husband Mike, a retired Troy Firefighter, and to the rest of her family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Mary Jane. Thank you for your years of service and the countless lives you helped touch. 🖤
