This Wednesday (Sept. 2) is our Annual School Family Clothing Giveaway. All Lansingburgh school families are welcome to browse and select free, gently used clothing for students of all ages.

The Clothing Giveaway is 5:00–7:00 PM in the Lansingburgh High School Gym (320 7th Ave). If attending the evening session of our 9th Grade Orientation Sessions (starting at 6:00 PM) that night, you are welcome to stop by beforehand.

Representatives from Lansingburgh Connects, our district's Student Assistance Counselor program, and the Troy Drug Free Community Coalition will also be there to share resources and assistance for school families.

Student orientations for the new school year are next week!

• 6th graders and any students new to Knickerbacker Middle School this year are invited to Middle School "Find Your Way Day" Orientation on Tuesday, September 1.

Students and parents/guardians (students must be accompanied by one) will meet at 5:00 PM at KMS. This is an opportunity to pick up your class schedules, familiarize yourself with the school and locate your classrooms.

• Pre-K (UPK4) & Kindergarten Drop-In Orientation is at Turnpike Elementary on Wednesday, September 2.

You and your student may stop by Turnpike anytime between 8:30 AM–12:30 PM. Plan to be at Turnpike for 20–30 minutes, during which you will meet your student's teacher and visit their classroom.

• 9th Grade Orientation Sessions are in the Knickerbacker Middle School Auditorium on Wednesday, September 2. There are two sessions (9:00 AM or 6:00 PM), and 9th graders can attend whichever is more convenient; they don't need to attend both.

These are opportunities to meet high school administration & faculty/staff, learn about school policies & procedures and find out about athletics & clubs.

• 3rd Grade Orientation is Thursday, September 3, at Rensselaer Park Elementary from 4:00–5:00 PM. Incoming 3rd graders and their parents/guardians will learn more about RPES, meet their 3rd-grade teachers and spend time with Principal Alexandra Nelson & Assistant Principal Brad Hupfl.

You can pay for t-shirts by cash or check. Class T-Shirts are $20 each, and Powderpuff Shirts are $25 each. Return payment to the following teachers by 2:30 PM on Wednesday, September 9.

Our 21st Century Summer Program just wrapped up, and participating grades 6–8 students had a blast over the last six weeks! Filled with field trips and hands-on learning opportunities, it was a packed summer for this group! Here’s some of what they got up to:

🏊Swimming at the Lansingburgh Boys and Girls Club and Grafton Lakes State Park

⛸️Ice skating at Knickerbacker Park

🦙Visiting llamas at Dakota Ridge Farm, LLC

🚢A Dutch Apple Cruises Hudson River boat ride

🔬Interactive learning at the Museum of Innovation & Science (MiSci) in Schenectady

🎣Weekly fishing, nature lessons, cooking/baking lessons & kickball games

'Burgh's Daniel Marble helped welcome the latest class to Questar III and HVCC STEM High School. Daniel and his STEM HS peers sat on a panel answering incoming students' questions.

​Daniel is one of our students enrolled ​in this program on the Hudson Valley Community College campus​, where grades 9–12 students earn both a high school diploma and a college degree​ to prepare them for a career in STEM​ (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math).
