Our very first Shooting Sports Club meeting was an absolute success!! The kids had a fantastic time out on the range, brought great energy, and showed impressive focus from start to finish!

Safety is always our top priority, so we kicked things off by measuring the fundamentals:

• MAT Technique: Everyone learned the core rules of Muzzle control, Action open, and Trigger safety.

• Range Commands: The kids learned exactly what “Cease Fire” means and how to react immediately to keep everyone safe.

Watching them build confidence, learn responsible marksmanship, and support one another was the best part of the day! A HUGE thank you to all the parents, volunteers, and young shooters who made our launch so memorable!! Stay tuned for details on our next meeting— we can’t wait to get back out there!!

🌾🐔 The 2026 Montgomery County Agricultural and Crafts Fair and Chicken Show was a success!

Thank you to all of the community members who entered their items, showcased their talents, brought their families, and came out to support the fair. The variety of entries and the talent displayed throughout the evening made us so proud of our Montgomery County community!

We also had a great turnout for the Chicken Show, where our young exhibitors had the opportunity to show off their birds, participate in showmanship, and spend time learning more about poultry. It was wonderful to see so many youth and families come out, and we appreciate everyone who helped make the show possible.

A special thank-you to the local organizations, agricultural partners, volunteers, exhibitors, families, and community members who came to represent their organizations and support agriculture in Montgomery County. Events like this truly take a community effort, and we are grateful for everyone who played a part.

And we certainly can't forget the food! 🍖 Max's Milestone BBQ kept everyone well-fed with some amazing food, and we were so glad to have them join us for the evening!

From the entries and exhibits to the Chicken Show, community organizations, volunteers, families, and great food, it was a wonderful evening celebrating agriculture, creativity, and the people who make Montgomery County special.

Thank you, Montgomery County, for coming out and making the 2026 Fair a memorable one! ❤️🌾🐔

We can't wait to see everyone again next year!

The Uwharrie and Sandhills regions regularly rank highest in NC for harvested timber income. Forestry and natural resource management are major activities. Recent local survey responses demonstrated public need for education in wildlife management and funding opportunities for landowners.
